Patient Care Coordinator - Audiology Associates
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Referral Liaison is one of the first points of contact for patients, physicians, and the community at Audiology Associates. The Referral Liaison is responsible for following up on incoming referrals, authorizations, and benefit verifications. The Referral Liaison is an active member of the Front Office Team and will participate in greeting patients, answering phone calls, scheduling appointments, and completing administrative processing and recordkeeping. The Referral Liaison will screen patients to determine what services will best meet their needs and demonstrate excellent customer service. The position will also support management in reporting key performance indicators as assigned. The position supports the mission of the practice by demonstrating exceptional customer care.
PRIMARY JOB FUNCTIONS:
Referrals
- Review all incoming referrals and authorizations and establish appropriate next steps
- Contact patients for scheduling
- Verify correct CPT codes for required services and ensure completion of authorization prior to the appointment
- Contact referring physicians and medical groups to secure accurate and complete referral information if necessary
- Enlist assistance of existing resources in CQ Partners, NHI verifications, or Biller/Financial Controller
Customer Service
- Answer incoming calls and guide patients to the appropriate service.
- Obtain and distribute appropriate forms, including new patient information, insurance Information, and HIPAA information for all patients.
- Schedule all appointments.
- Confirm the next day appointments.
- Cross-train on all other front-office tasks such as payment collection and paperwork preparation
- Perform all other miscellaneous duties as assigned.
- Exercise confidentiality as it relates to all business and patient information
- Understand HIPPA Laws and explain to patients
- Generate dictation/thank you cards/comment cards as needed
- Fill in at other front office positions when needed
Additional Responsibilities
- Demonstrate initiative in handling multiple demands such as telephone calls, letter writing, and documentation while able to be self-directed.
- Communicate effectively and professionally with different levels of professionals, including referral sources, and be able to ask for referrals to the practice.
- Present oneself professionally in appearance, dress, attendance, and communication
- Provide accurate information about the practice and services we have to offer
- Demonstrate proficiency in Microsoft Office software, namely Excel and Word
- Exhibit proficiency in technology, learning the practice management software as well as access necessary patient and practice portals
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- High school graduate or GED equivalent.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license and current automobile insurance.
- Medical background highly desirable.
- Self-motivated, self-directed, assertive, and demonstrated ability to meet goals.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills to prioritize numerous duties while meeting strict deadlines.
- Experience using MS Word, MS Excel, and MS Outlook.
- Excellent interpersonal skills that allow effective working relationships with a diverse population. These skills include effective listening and problem-solving skills.
- Demonstrated attention to detail.
- History of being punctual.
